A-Z Home Decor Trend 2014: Lucite

L is for luciteWelcome Back to the second half of week 6 of the A-Z Home Decor Trend Guide 2014.Over a period of 13 weeks, I'm revealing the hottest home decor trends currently heating up the market, design blogs, and the internet.Today's home decor trend starts with the letter L for...Lucite!Lucite is usually affiliated with glamorous spaces and when you see some of these spaces I've curated for you, you'll understand why.  It's the perfect solution for small spaces since the translucent quality doesn't take up valuable visual space. In case you were wondering, Lucite is a trademarked name just as Plexiglass is for acrylic which is  a high grade plastic.  There are different quality levels of this product.  The expensive acrylic can be thick and luxurious, crystal-like and seamless while cheap acrylic has a noticeably more plastic look and feel.  There are options to fit any budget and just like anything, it's not about how much it costs, it about how it's incorporated into a space and how it's styled. Take a look at some of these stunners...These dining chairs are pretty fabulous don't you agree? Notice how being able to see through them makes such a difference, especially since it looks like there's a fantastic view from those windows?  A solid chair wouldn't have the same effect.

These lucite and brass barstools are amazing!  I can hear Fergie singing already...G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S...

A lucite coffee table is a great solution when your space cannot handle the weight of a solid table.

This console table looks fantastic in front of the mirror.  The clear structure doesn't compete with mirror frame.

How amazing are these dining chairs?! The combination of the velvet and lucite spells luxury and the table and that chandelier is perfection!  Love the black and white with the pop of green!

And can we talk about this bar cart?  Cheers to that!

I love this lucite and polished brass drapery rod (hey, that's two trends in one!) The see through rod won't stand out against the wall or compete with the drapery fabric.

and this vintage lucite phone would be a fantastic accessory...talk about a conversation starter!
