A-Z Home Decor Trend 2014: Taxidermy

T is for faux taxidermyWelcome Back to the second half of this week's A-Z Home Decor Trend Guide 2014.I've been revealing the hottest home decor trends currently heating up the market, design blogs, and the internet.Today's home decor trend starts with the letter T for...Taxidermy...or more accurately Faux Taxidermy or Fauxidermy! You've probably seen this trend pop up on the scene over the last few years.  This is not your western lodge style taxidermy...these are modern, sculptural, 3D art forms.  When done right it can be pretty cool.  Personally, I think less is more, but some like to do groupings and that works too as you'll see in the following inspiration photos. Z Gallerie offers a big selection of this faux taxidermy home decor trend.  Whether you're into moose, deer, bulls or cows, they've got it in white or metallic finishes.

Here's how one homeowner displayed her collection...in lit recessed niches in her entry.  The white looks great against the dark wall color.  Sure beats the typical family photo display or vases.

And if you want to incorporate the gold trend with the taxidermy, here's what I'm guessing is a reindeer with gold antlers.

I prefer this very modern, origami like form.  I know some of these are made from cardboard which is very lightweight and adds visual interest to an otherwise boring wall.

faux taxidermyHere are the silver versions which can be fun for the holidays or a more glitzy space.  I like the idea of using it in a utilitarian way.

I like the simplicity, color and texture of this horn...

And for those of you who'd like to incorporate this trend but not so into the true taxidermy look, try a modern art piece like this moose...

or this modern deer antler.

Can you see where you may want to add this trend in your home?  If I were to incorporate this into my decor, I'd probably opt for the horns or the art.
