PROJECT BACHELOR HOUSE 2: BATHROOM AND FIREPLACE MAKEOVER PLANS

It's been a minute since we discussed the renovation plans for #ProjectBachelorHouse2. It's taken longer than I would prefer to get started, but hallelujah, demo finally started on Thursday...it's about time!A lot of decisions were made in the last few days about finishes. As much as I would have liked doing this sooner, I knew that doing it too early in the process was inviting too much additional thought to the choices over time.We finalized finishes for the kitchen which you will see as the project progresses. If you missed the initial plans, catch up here.We also made decisions regarding the fireplace makeovers. There are two fireplaces in this house, in the living room and the family room. They are both currently gas starter, wood burning fireplaces and the plan is to replace them with gas fireplaces. The end result will be so much cleaner and more usable. A fire will be available with the click of the remote. Who wants to clean up after burning wood or wood composite? NO ONE, EVER!!Here's a quick look at the plans...I'll save the decisions for the final reveal.We saw the crocodile quartz when sourcing for materials a few weeks back. He was really interested in that for the kitchen back splash, but I'm suggesting it as an option for the fireplace facade. I also wanted to give him the alternative option of using a graphic tile. Which do you like better? I'm excited to see the family room fireplace finished. It'll be the first time we're installing a linear fireplace and that Caesarstone concetto in Indigo is quite beautiful in person. It'll definitely make a statement.And the downstairs bath is getting a gut remodel. He's ready to let go of the wallpaper and the builder finishes...pheww!!Here is the design inspiration... We'll be removing the tub/shower and installing a walk-in shower without a curb. The flooring will run right into the shower pan area. Since this is a small space, we want to create a more spacious feel. I think the floor to almost ceiling glass shower will make a big difference although he's thinking we should install frosted glass for some privacy (noooooo!!!! )He's also insisting that he doesn't need storage (despite all the items seen in the before photo) so we will go with an alternative to a traditional boring pedestal sink which is what he requested. Instead, I'd like to install a floating wood shelf with a top mount sink and exposed plumbing. Much more modern and aesthetically interesting.Unfortunately, we're already experiencing a little hiccup. The concrete sink (LOVE!) he has approved is 36" wide. The existing vanity is only 30" wide. I'm hoping we can steal a little space from the shower to allow for a slightly larger vanity. It'll hardly be noticeable in the shower, but it'll make a world of difference at the sink area which will be used more often than the shower. What do you think so far?
